The Power of Mind belongs to Spirit
"The power of the mind when it remembers and desires, when it thinks again and again, belongs to Spirit. Therefore let Mind meditate on Spirit. Spirit is the Good in all.
It should be worshipped as the Good. He that knows it as the Good is esteemed by all.
You asked me about spiritual knowledge, I have explained it."
Kena Upanishad 4.1, 5, 9

The essence of the individual self is of the same nature as "Brahman." That our spiritual being is divine constitutes the absolute basis of human dignity.
"The Self (capital letter-divine, Brahman) knows all, is not born, does not die, is not the effect of any cause; is eternal, self-existent, imperishable, ancient." -Katha Upanishad
(How can killing of the body kill Him? His spiritual essence and ours is the same. - T. Churton)
"This is myself [atmantar] within the heart, smaller than a grain of rice, than a barley corn, than a mustard seed, than a grain of millet or than a kernel of a grain of millet. This is myself within the heart, greater than the earth, greater than the atmosphere, greater than the sky, greater than these worlds. Containing all works, containing all desires, containing all odors, containing all tastes, encompassing this whole world, without speed, without concern, this is the self of mine within the heart; this is 'Brahman'. And into him I shall enter upon departing hence."
-Chandogya Upanishad
